What this is

DateSealed attaches a signed time stamp (RFC 3161) and a Bitcoin-ledger record (OpenTimestamps) to a SHA-256 hash that you send. It is a free tool operated by Lightscend Co., Ltd.

What it does not do

A record is one piece of evidence that data matching the hash existed at the recorded time. It does not show that the content is true, who created it, or who holds the rights. Records made with this tool do not guarantee legal effect. If you need an accredited timestamp (certified by Japan's Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications), please use an accredited provider.

What we store, and what we do not

We store the hash, the record time, the signature serial number and the proof files (.tsr / .ots). If you use page URL input, we also keep the URL you entered (never shown on public pages) and the dates the page states about itself; the fetched content itself is discarded. We never receive or store your text or files. For rate limiting, IP addresses are kept only as salted hashes for 30 days and then deleted. We do not use cookies.

Prohibited use

Automated bulk submission, interference with the service, and use intended to deceive others are not allowed. We may apply limits without notice.

Disclaimer

The service is provided free, as is, and may change or end. Once a record is anchored in the Bitcoin ledger it can still be verified if this service closes.
